Triglavski dom na Kredarica is the highest mountain hut and a popular starting point for climbing Slovenia's highest peak. Despite its high altitude on the ridge between Rjavina and Triglav, the hut is easily accessible, especially from the Krma valley and Bohinj. The climb from the north via the Triglav wall is recommended for those with more experience.
The disappearing Triglav Glacier is nearby. There is a meteorological observatory and a chapel next to the lodge.
Let Triglavski dom be your highest home, welcome!

The hut is located 4 km from the shores of Lake Bohinj in the upper, closed part of the glacial valley, in Ukanc. The name is said to have come from the phrase "u konc'" - at the end of the world, as people in the past believed that the world ended under the nearby Komarčo cliff.
Now we know that the world does not end here. Nearby is the well-visited Savica waterfall, a karst spring that flows past the hut into Lake Bohinj as a stream of the same name. The hut at Savici is the starting point for the route to the high-altitude Komno plateau, while the route via Komarča is one of the fastest accesses to the Valley of the Triglav Lakes and the highlands of the Triglav National Park.
You are welcome to the mountain hut for a quick snack or overnight stay. The hut was renovated in 2021, and we also offer a few smaller accommodation units.
You can reach the hut by asphalt road using various means of transport (bike, car, bus), the parking lot is right next to the hut. Or even better – go on foot, along another traffic-free path leading from Lake Bohinj.

Frequently asked questions
History
The lodge (2515 m) is located just below the peak of Kredarica (2539 m), on a ridge between Rjavina and Triglav in the Julian Alps. The first lodge was built in 1896 according to the idea of Jakob Aljaž.
Jakob Aljaž began thinking about the hut during the construction of the tower, when he, Belec and his assistants had to sleep in the Dežmanova koča, which was considered a German hut. The caretaker offered them a place to stay because there were no German mountaineers at the time, otherwise he would have refused them. The caretaker's statement inspired Aljaž to build his own hut: "At that moment, I decided to make a Triglavska koča, a hut just for myself and a few of my friends." His national pride was hurt above all, and he returned to Triglav in September to find a suitable place for the hut. During the descent, he stopped on Mali Triglav and saw two chamois running across Kredarica, which prompted him to start thinking about Kredarica as a suitable location. Within a few days, he prepared everything necessary for the purchase and on September 9, 1895, on behalf of the Slovenian Mountaineering Association, signed a purchase contract worth 5 guilders with the municipalities of Dovje and Mojstrana. The wood for the hut was hauled to Kredarica by 30 workers, who used 500 meters of rope in three parts. The funds for the construction were also contributed by readers of Planinski vestnik, who informed the general public about the construction of the hut.
The official opening of the Kredarica Hut was on August 10, 1896. Around 100 mountaineers gathered, and 70 of them climbed to the top of Triglav. In his speech, Jakob Aljaž emphasized: "Although our hut is Slovenian, it will be arranged to suit tourists of every nation. Everyone, without distinction, will be received equally kindly, this is what Slovenian hospitality demands." At the opening, the hut was called the Triglavska koča na Kredarica.
